An American Dream
A $5 Journey, Three Generations Deep
At 18, Francesco Belcastro came to America from the small town of San Giovanni in Fiore, Calabria, Italy. With $5 to his name, he made the journey to Michigan in the hopes of a better life.
Together with his son, Domenic, they took their love for cooking and passion for success and opened Da Francesco’s on June 1, 1990. They never would have imagined it would become what it is now.
A third generation — Domenic’s son, Francesco — has joined the team and looks forward to carrying out his grandfather’s legacy.
